Vegan Brownies That Actually Taste Like Brownies: Our Best Plant-Based Bakes
Share
The vegan brownie has had a reputation problem. For years, "vegan brownie" was code for something slightly dry, faintly worthy, and texturally puzzling — the kind of thing you ate to be polite and then spent the rest of the afternoon pretending to enjoy. The compromise was baked in. You chose vegan, you accepted that it would be good-for-you rather than good.
We rejected that. Completely and without apology.
Our vegan bakes exist because Alana has been vegetarian for years and believes, genuinely, that everyone deserves access to something delicious — not something that tastes like a concession to their dietary preferences. The Vegan Oreo Brownie went through more test batches than we care to admit before we were happy with it. The result is gooey, dark, intensely chocolatey, and completely plant-based. You would not know it was vegan from eating it. That is the point.
What We Changed (And What We Refused to Change)
Making a gooey brownie without butter and eggs is genuinely difficult. Butter gives fat and flavour. Eggs give structure and that glossy, crinkled top. Remove both and you risk ending up with something flat, dense in the wrong way, or texturally strange.
We spent time finding plant-based alternatives that do the same job — not ingredients that approximately substitute for butter and eggs while delivering a noticeably different result, but alternatives that genuinely replicate what those ingredients do in a brownie. We tested, adjusted, and tested again. The standard did not move: if it did not taste like a proper brownie, it was not going on the menu.
The one thing we refused to compromise on was the chocolate. Our vegan brownies use 70% dark chocolate — the same high-quality dark chocolate we use in our standard brownie. Dark chocolate is already dairy-free. Using a lower cocoa percentage to save cost would have been noticeable immediately. We did not do it.
Our Vegan Range
The Vegan Mixed Box is the best introduction: three of our strongest vegan bakes in one box. The Vegan Oreo Brownie is the headline — dark chocolate, gooey throughout, topped with an Oreo cookie. The Sticky Toffee Flapjack is plant-based and has been since day one — oats, butter substitutes, and genuinely sticky toffee sauce. The Vegan Biscoff Brownie brings the caramelised biscuit spread that has been a UK favourite for years and works beautifully against the dark chocolate base.
The Oreo Brownie Box is for when you want one thing done exceptionally: nine or fifteen slices of pure Vegan Oreo Brownie, nothing else. It is a strong choice for anyone who has tried one and immediately wanted more.
For Gluten-Free Needs Too
Vegan and gluten-free are separate dietary requirements, and we treat them separately. Our Gluten Free Box is made in a dedicated coeliac-safe bakery — not just a recipe that avoids gluten-containing ingredients, but a production environment that eliminates the risk of cross-contamination. It contains Nutella Brownie, Salted Caramel Brownie, and Strawberry White Choc Blondie — all made properly, all genuinely delicious.
A Gift That Does Not Make Anyone Feel Like an Afterthought
One of the more frustrating experiences in group gift-giving is being the person with dietary restrictions who gets handed something separate — a token alternative that makes it obvious they were considered last. Our vegan and gluten-free boxes are not alternatives. They are proper gifts in their own right, packaged identically to everything else we make, that happen to be suitable for people with specific dietary needs.
Send the Vegan Mixed Box to someone and they will know they were thought about — not accommodated. That difference matters.
